Lepton Pits Streak Against Nemesis: Tracy’s Comet
Lepton, an undefeated 5 for 5 in 1990, will put her winning streak on the line when she tackles Tracy’s Comet and six others in the $16,966 California Breeders Stakes for sophomore pacing fillies tonight at Los Alamitos.
Lepton had to work hard for her fifth straight win, which came in a sires stakes on Feb. 23. Tracy’s Comet came up a neck short at the finish line. Tracy’s Comet does get a nice post switch (from the No. 8 post to No. 2) tonight.
Others entered are Precioisa, Denali’s Ginger, Cheryl Andy, Magna Amber, Equus Ronni and Black on Black. Tracy’s Comet is one of only two fillies that have beaten Lepton with the other being Red Pepper, who surprised Lepton at Cal Expo in the summer. Tracy’s Comet got her victory over Lepton on Dec. 22, with a lifetime best and track record mile of 1:57 3/5.
