COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Fullerton Defeats Loyola With Run in 10th

Steve Sisco doubled in a run in the 10th inning to give Cal State Fullerton a 9-8 victory over Loyola Marymount in a nonconference baseball game Sunday at Fullerton.

With two outs, Paul Bunch walked and Sisco followed with a double, his third hit of the game. Loyola had tied the score with two runs in the ninth.

After Miah Bradbury’s solo home run in the first inning gave the Lions (14-7) a 1-0 lead, Fullerton (9-7) scored four in the second.

Frank Charles hit a solo home run in the third and Mate Borgogno, who had three hits and three RBIs, hit a two-run double in the fifth as Fullerton scored three runs.

In Big West Conference softball:

Fresno State 7-1, Cal State Fullerton 0-3--Shireen Campbell (7-2) pitched a three-hitter and allowed only one unearned run as the Titans won the second game of a doubleheader in Fresno. Buffy Sanchez had three hits and scored two runs in the second game for the Titans (16-5, 1-1). In the first game, Carrie Deever limited Fullerton to five hits and Fresno scored five runs in the sixth on four hits and three Titan errors.

In Big West Conference women’s tennis:

Cal State Fullerton 5, Pacific 4--Trailing, 4-2, after singles play, host Fullerton swept in doubles. The Titans are 7-7, 3-3.

In nonconference men’s tennis:

UC Irvine 6, Trinity 3--Host UC Irvine (8-5) was led by Trevor Kronemann, who defeated Anders Eriksson, 7-5, 6-3.

In the Pacific 10 wrestling championships:

Arizona State’s Matt Wilhite defeated Cal State Fullerton’s David Jones in overtime to win the heavyweight championship at Cal State Bakersfield. Arizona State’s Wayne McMinn defeated Fullerton’s Lyndon Campbell, 9-3, in the 134-pound division.

For the Titans, Michael Grubbs finished fourth at 118, Jeff Maes was fourth at 126, Jim Walker was sixth at 150, Dan Henderson was fifth at 167 and Ramone Diaz was fifth at 177.
