COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Mission Finds Win at Barstow Twice as Nice

It was a day of doubles--more than just in terms of two-base hits--as Mission College leveled Barstow, 23-4, in a Southern California Athletic Conference game at Barstow on Thursday.

Mission (12-6-1, 4-1 in conference play) not only pounded out nine doubles, but reached double figures in runs and hits (25) too.

Dain Turner had two hits to give him multiple hits in all five conference games, Mike Rogers had four hits and drove in five runs and Raul Villasenor was four for six with two runs batted in. Eddie Chavez was three for four.

In other baseball games:

Glendale 3, Ventura 0--Freshman Dan Whisenant fired a two-hit shutout in a Western State Conference game at Glendale.

Glendale scored twice in the fifth to break open a scoreless game. With the loss, Ventura falls to 10-8, 2-5.

Moorpark 5, Santa Monica 2--Right-hander Jeff Berman (3-0) scattered four hits and struck out four in a WSC game at Moorpark.

Don Smith had three RBIs and two hits, including a home run, to lead Moorpark (11-6, 6-1).

SOFTBALL

Cal Poly SLO 2-1, Cal Lutheran 1-0--CLU’s Kim White extended her hitting streak to eight games with singles in both games as the Regals were swept in a nonconference doubleheader at San Luis Obispo.
