Relatives of the late David Croudip have given up attempts to prove that the Atlanta Falcon defensive back did not die of a self-induced overdose of cocaine.
U.S. District Judge Gordon Thompson in San Diego ruled last week that the family could not prove that Croudip had been killed by his wife, attorney Leslie Klein told the Gwinnett (Ga.) Daily News. Klein represents Croudip’s mother, Josephine Thornton.
Croudip, 29, collapsed and died in his apartment Oct. 10, 1988.
Thompson’s ruling entitles Croudip’s wife, Holly, to collect on about $200,000 in insurance, Klein said.
