Cities, businesses and individuals who suffered losses in the Feb. 28 Upland earthquake will be offered grants and loans to repair the damage, Richard Andrews, deputy director of the state Office of Emergency Services, said Monday.

Andrews outlined the aid available at a meeting of public officials at Claremont City Hall. He said the state estimates the quake damage at $10.4 million, including $1.2 million to public facilities, $2.5 million to businesses and $6.7 million to 600 homes and other private structures.

The state will issue grants to cities and other public agencies to cover 75% of eligible expenses, including building damage and overtime salaries. The Small Business Administration is expected to offer low-interest loans to home and business owners, Andrews said.
