MARCH FOR PARKS: A national event held in Los Angeles and cities across the nation celebrating America’s parks. A Santa Monica Mountains walk begins at 11 a.m. Sunday at Malibu Creek State Park and ends after 4.5 miles at Paramount Ranch.
HISTORY AT SEA: Capt. John Chernesky, commanding officer of the historic battleship Missouri, will accept a museum-quality copy of the Japanese World War II surrender document, on what has become known as the ship’s surrender deck. Ceremony is at 9 a.m. Monday at the Long Beach Naval Station.
UNHAPPY PARENTS: Lynwood officials once again expect to hear angry parents protest the idea of year-round schools at 6 p.m. Tuesday when the school board discusses a plan to convert three elementary schools to the new schedule.
SETTING THE PACE: The three-day Great Snail Festival begins Friday at the Industrial Hills Sheraton Resort in the City of Industry.
