COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Harvard Beats UC Irvine in Tennis, 5-3

Harvard split in singles and won a pair of doubles matches to defeat UC Irvine, 5-3, in the championship of the UC Irvine men’s tennis tournament Sunday.

Jonathan Cardi and Albert Chang defeated Carsten Hoffmann and Mike Roberts, 6-3, 3-6, 6-3, and Mark Leschly and Roger Berry defeated Shige Kanroji and Neel Grover, 7-6, 7-5, for Harvard (8-1), the seventh-ranked team in the nation.

Trevor Kronemann won, 6-2, 7-5, Richard Lubner won, 6-4, 6-4, and Kanroji won, 6-4, 6-4, in singles for Irvine (14-7), the ninth-ranked team.

In the Cal State Fullerton softball tournament:

Fresno State 1, Arizona 0--Kerri Donis had an RBI single with one out in the bottom of the seventh for Fresno State (28-7) in the championship game.

In Sunday’s semifinal round, Arizona (28-7) eliminated Cal State Fullerton with a 2-0 victory in 10 innings. Fullerton is 24-9.
