Two men suspected of murdering an Olympic boxing hopeful in his Wilmington home nearly a year ago surrendered to Maryland police Tuesday, two days after the television show “America’s Most Wanted” depicted the crime.

Fugitives Michael Berry, 34, and Jessie Morrison, 22, surrendered at the police station in Rockville, Md., authorities said. They were being sought by Los Angeles police on charges of murder, attempted murder, robbery and burglary, according to Los Angeles Police Detective Richard Simmons.

Berry and Morrison are wanted for the May, 1989, shooting death of Cesar Cardenas, 22, who was robbed and killed when Berry and Morrison allegedly broke into his home. Cardenas’ sister also was wounded, Simmons said.

A spokesman for the television show said the decision to air a segment on the case was made after Cardenas’ boxing coach submitted a petition signed by 1,000 friends and admirers.
