Taft 10, Granada Hills 9--Benji Belfield’s three-run triple capped a four-run seventh inning for host Taft in the Northwest Valley Conference game.

Belfield was five for five, including two doubles, and drove in five runs.

Kennedy 18, Canoga Park 0--Cody Beaumaster (4-0) struck out 11 and tossed a five-hitter as Kennedy cruised to a Northwest Valley Conference win at Canoga Park.

Palmer Drain was four for five with three runs scored and three runs batted in.

Hart 6, Schurr 5--Rob Davis stole home for the winning run with one out in the bottom of the seventh inning of the Foothill League game at Hart. Davis was two for two with two RBIs.

Senior left-hander Andrew Lorraine (3-0) struck out six in two innings of relief to earn the win.

Saugus 21, Quartz Hill 12--J. B. Johnson and Jason Bates both were four for six, and Jeff Albert and Walter White were four for five for visiting Saugus (7-2-1, 4-0), which collected 20 hits in the Golden League game.

Canyon 12, Palmdale 0--Canyon’s Steve Mann, who entered the game batting .536, was three for four as the host Cowboys (6-3) improved to 3-1 in Golden League play.

Alemany 14, Notre Dame 10--Greg Thompson hit a grand slam in the second inning as Alemany raced to a 12-2 lead in a nonleague game at Notre Dame.

Notre Dame closed the gap to 12-8, but Alemany’s Joey Rosselli came on in relief and struck out four of the last six batters to earn his second save.

COLLEGE BASEBALL

Canyons 11, Santa Barbara 7--J. R. Trujillo was three for six with four RBIs, including his ninth home run of the season, to lead Canyons (17-7, 9-2) in a Western State Conference game.

The win kept the Cougars in a first-place tie with Moorpark.

Pierce 7, Santa Monica 5--Pat Huston had two hits and Carl McFadden drove in two runs to lead Pierce (11-13, 4-7) in a WSC game at Santa Monica.

Mission 11, Compton 0--Jose Garcia (4-1) yielded five hits in six innings to earn the win in the Southern California Athletic Conference game at Compton.
