“Field of Dreams”--No. 2 on the Billboard rental chart--didn’t win the best-picture Oscar but it still has fully capitalized on its nomination. Of the five nominees, it was the only one released in the rental market in time to take advantage of the pre-Oscar publicity. It probably will climb into the No. 1 spot soon, not only because it will still be basking in the post-Oscar glow but also because its baseball theme ties in with the opening of the baseball season. Meanwhile, “Breaking In,” the low-budget, critically acclaimed movie starring Burt Reynolds, is doing surprisingly well (No. 19) in the rental market for a movie that did very little box-office business. “Little Monsters,” starring Fred Savage, debuted at No. 22.

* In its second week on the chart, “Honey, I Shrunk the Kids,” the comedy/fantasy starring Rick Moranis, vaulted from No. 37 to No. 8. The only thing that can keep this blockbuster (theatrical gross: more than $130 million) out of No. 1 is a very strong rental-market performance by “Field of Dreams.” VIDEO RENTAL CHARTS
