For the second match in a row, the Chatsworth High volleyball team needed some come-from-behind heroics to post a Northwest Valley Conference victory.

Down one game and trailing Granada Hills, 14-7, in the second, the Chancellors (6-2, 2-0 in conference play) scored nine consecutive points to win the game on their way to a 7-15, 16-14, 15-12, 12-15, 15-8 victory in a conference showdown at Chatsworth.

The Chancellors rallied from a one-game deficit to defeat Taft in five games last week.

“Once this team gets some momentum, there’s no stopping them,” Chatsworth Coach Steve West said.

Senior outside hitters Ryan Labovitch and Mike Nash led Chatsworth with 20 and 19 kills, respectively. Senior middle blocker Craig Hewitt added 17 kills.

“We made stupid mistakes early on,” said Chatsworth middle blocker Gene Urcan, who had 10 kills and eight blocks. “But we came together and played as a team, and that was the difference.”

Granada Hills is 6-1, 2-1.
