Reebok Will Overhaul School Basketball Courts

As part of a nationwide promotional campaign, the company that makes Reebok shoes will overhaul the basketball courts at Inglewood’s Monroe Junior High School, where Byron Scott of the Lakers played as a youth.

Inglewood school board members accepted the $30,000 donation this week, but they became the first in the nation to turn down Reebok International Limited’s request to display its logo in the gym.

“We’re not in the business of advertising,” said board member Thomasina Reed.

A Reebok spokesman said the company was not offended by the action.
