Share

The Corona del Mar High School boys’ track and field team lost its first Sea View League dual meet in seven years when Saddleback beat the Sea Kings, 95-41, Thursday afternoon at Corona del Mar.

Corona del Mar’s last league loss was to Estancia in 1983. Saddleback had not defeated Corona del Mar in a dual track meet since 1977.

“Actually I was a little disappointed that Corona del Mar wasn’t as strong as I thought they would be,” said Saddleback Coach Jim Knapp, whose team drenched him with a bucket of water upon winning the meet. “It is something, though. We’re excited.”
