The Saints lost their 10th player under the NFL’s Plan B free agent system and signed their first. Defensive end Jumpy Geathers, the Saints’ No. 2 draft pick in 1984, has agreed to sign a three-year contract with the Washington Redskins. The terms of the contract were not announced.

And the Saints announced today they signed linebacker Tracy Simeon, who spent all but the final playoff game on the developmental roster of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Simeon, 6-foot-1 and 245 pounds, played on special teams in the one game in which he was on the roster.

Simeon played college football at Texas Christian.

Also today, the Saints signed free agent wide receiver Gerald Alphin, 6-3 and 218, who had 199 catches for 3,807 yards and 23 touchdowns in three seasons at Ottawa in the CFL.
