THE SIDELINES : Graf Plans Early Comeback
World No. 1 Steffi Graf will make her comeback from injury earlier than expected and will play in next week’s tour event in Amelia Island, Fla.
The West German news agency SID reported today that the injured thumb that has kept the 20-year-old West German out of the game for eight weeks had healed faster than expected.
Graf broke a bone in her right hand in a skiing accident at the start of February and had not planned to return until the end of this month at an event in Hamburg.
