In another track and field meet:

Van Nuys 96, Monroe 31--Matthew Roderick and Russell Hester combined to win seven events in a Mid-Valley League meet at Monroe.

Roderick won the 110-meter high hurdles (17.3), 330-yard intermediates (43.9), high jump (6-0) and triple jump (40-6) as Van Nuys improved to 5-1 in league play.

Hester took the 100 meters (11.4), 220 (23.1) and long jump (19-8).

BOYS’ BASEBALL

Royal 6, Newbury Park 4--Reliever Jesse Rosen broke a 4-4 tie with a single up the middle in the top of the sixth inning in a Marmonte League game at Newbury Park.

Van Nuys d. North Hollywood, 15-4, 16-14, 15-6--Brad Schultz (14 kills, 10 blocks), Larry Lien (nine kills) and Brian Chung (seven kills, nine service points) led Van Nuys (6-3, 3-2) in a Valley Pac-8 Conference match at North Hollywood.

Birmingham d. Sherman Oaks CES, 15-4, 15-11, 15-6--James Gould and Hye Kwon each had 16 kills for Birmingham (7-2, 5-0) in a Valley Pac-8 Conference match at Sherman Oaks CES (3-6, 1-4).

Taft d. Kennedy, 15-7, 15-4, 16-14--Adam Friedman, Cody Hein and Aubry Miller each had 10 kills for Taft (8-1, 4-1) in a Northwest Valley Conference match.

Notre Dame d. St. Genevieve, 16-14, 15-13, 13-15, 15-5--Chris Raymond led Notre Dame (8-4, 1-3) with 21 kills in the San Fernando Valley League match.

Chaminade d. Bell-Jeff, 13-15, 15-0, 17-15, 15-5--Darren Johnson and Greg Walker had 17 and 16 kills, respectively, to lead host Chaminade in a San Fernando Valley League match.

Harvard d. La Salle, 15-6, 15-4, 15-3--Eric Wells led host Harvard (5-1, 4-0) with six kills in a San Fernando Valley League match.

Moorpark 10, Cuesta 0--Moorpark (16-5, 8-0) polished off Cuesta in a Western State Conference game shortened to five innings because of the mercy rule at Moorpark.

COLLEGE VOLLEYBALL

Palomar d. Canyons, 16-14, 15-12, 15-3--Eric Henkels had 10 kills in a losing cause for Canyons (2-15, 2-15) in a South Coast Conference match.
