The New York Islanders appealed an NHL ruling of $30,000 in fines as a result of actions in the first game of the Patrick Division semifinals Thursday night against the New York Rangers.

On Friday, the NHL fined the Islanders $25,000, docked Coach Al Arbour an additional $5,000, and suspended Mick Vukota and Ken Baumgartner for starting a series of fights at the end of the game.
