OJAI VALLEY : Water Board Orders Ban on Hookups
Directors of the Casitas Municipal Water District declared a water shortage emergency Wednesday night and ordered a one-year moratorium on new or expanded service connections, effective today.
A public hearing in Oak View drew a crowd of 65 customers and representatives of other agencies throughout the Ojai Valley and the western portion of the city of Ventura, who buy water from the public utility.
By declaring an emergency, Casitas can start an environmental review of the six-phase allocation plan expected to be adopted by July 1.
