3 Finalists Picked for Byers Award
Swimmer Ray Looze of Southern California and basketball players Alec Kessler of Georgia and Dean Smith of Maine have been selected as the three finalists for the NCAA’s Walter Byers Award, the organization announced Wednesday.
Named after the executive director emeritus of the NCAA, the award is presented annually to a male and female collegiate senior student-athlete excelling in academics. The winners will each receive a $7,500 scholarship.
