Police said Thursday that no arrests were planned after an accident late Wednesday in which a 45-year-old man was crushed to death by an RTD bus in Hollywood.

“There’s no crime involved that we can determine at this particular time,” said detective John Kelley.

The man was killed about 11 p.m. Wednesday near the intersection of Hollywood Boulevard and Bronson Avenue, Officer John Balicki said.

The man, who was not identified, was run over by the right rear wheels of the bus. It was not clear how the accident occurred.

“The bus driver sits 40 feet up in front of the rear wheels, and sometimes they don’t know if they hit anybody,” Kelley said. He said several similar accidents happen every year.
