COMMUNITY COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Fogg’s One-Hitter Lifts Golden West

Pam Fogg pitched a one-hitter, allowing only a single in the first inning, as Golden West defeated Riverside, 2-0, in an Orange Empire Conference softball game Wednesday at Golden West.

Riverside’s third batter of the game singled but Fogg (10-6) picked off the runner and went on to face the minimum of 21 batters.

Gretchen Bock went two for two, scoring Golden West’s first run in the second inning and driving in the second in the fourth. Golden West is 26-12, 8-5. Riverside is 4-21, 0-13.

In other Orange Empire Conference softball games:

Saddleback 3, Fullerton 1--Denise Kuhns (13-9) pitched her 21st complete game to lead host Saddleback (15-17, 7-6). Saddleback took advantage of 10 walks, scoring twice on bases-loaded walks. Saddleback scored its third run on a wild pitch. Kim Greany had two hits for Saddleback.

Orange Coast 4, Rancho Santiago 0--Kristin Heizer pitched a three-hitter, struck out seven and didn’t allow a runner past first for visiting OCC (28-9, 11-2). Wendy Robinson and Cathy Scanlan each had two hits for the Pirates.

In South Coast Conference men’s volleyball:

Orange Coast 3, Westmont 0--Matt Lyles had 17 kills to lead Orange Coast (17-1) to a 15-3, 15-11, 15-2 victory over Westmont (3-15).

Pierce 3, Golden West 2--Lane Moore had 34 kills for host Golden West (10-9), but Pierce (17-2) won, 7-15, 15-11, 15-9, 15-17, 15-10.
