N.C. State to Name New Basketball Coach Today

North Carolina State will announce the successor to basketball coach Jim Valvano today, and though it isn’t saying who he’ll be, speculation surrounds Les Robinson, a former Wolfpack player now coaching East Tennessee State.
Robinson said last week he was going to Raleigh for an interview. No one answered the telephone at his Tennessee home Sunday night.
Robinson, 47, guided the Buccaneers to a 27-7 record last season.
