Boxers Must Pay Fines to Have Suspensions Lifted
The indefinite suspensions for Texas boxers Edward Parker and Gaby Canizales will be lifted when they pay fines levied by the California Athletic Commission for failing drug tests after Forum fights, it was announced Tuesday.
Parker, 24, of Houston, was suspended when a drug test after a March 16 fight revealed traces of cocaine. He was fined $1,000 and will be subject to random drug testing for one year by the commission.
Canizales was fined $500 for failing to notify the commission he was on prescribed medication. His suspension came when a drug test after a Feb. 12 fight revealed traces of Darvon and norpropoxyphene.
