Cerritos : Finalist in Presidential Scholars Program
Cerritos High School senior Paras P. Mehta, 17, has been named one of 500 finalists in the 1990 Presidential Scholars Program. The White House is expected to announce the names of 141 scholars next month.
The award is the highest federal honor given to high school seniors. It is based on academic achievement, leadership qualities and community and school involvement. Winners will be given the Presidential Scholar Medallion at a White House ceremony in June.
Mehta has a 4.0 grade-point average and has received numerous academic awards. He has taught biology to Cerritos High honor students. He has also written a biology curriculum for junior high students.
