Chamber Society to Present Orchestra

In a departure from its tradition of presenting quartets and other small ensembles, the Laguna Beach Chamber Music Society will present a 22-member chamber orchestra, the Camerata Musica from East Berlin, as one of seven offerings during its 31st season, which begins Oct. 27.

The Camerata will play Jan. 12 at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in Newport Beach. All other concerts will take place at the society’s usual venue, the Laguna High School auditorium. The season:

* Oct. 27: The Chilingarian String Quartet with guest pianist Gerald Robbins, fourth-place winner of the 1969 Van Cliburn International Piano Competition.

* Nov. 15: The Ysaye String Quartet.

* Jan. 12, 1991: The Camerata Musica.

* Feb. 9: The Debussy Trio.

* Feb. 21: The Fresk Quartet.

* Mar. 14: The Talich String Quartet.

* Apr. 16: The Mendelssohn String Quartet with guest violist Brian Dembow and cellist Ronald Leonard.
