Man Killed, Woman Hurt in Knife Fight
A knife fight inside a Northridge apartment Thursday morning left one man dead, a woman injured and another man being sought by authorities, Los Angeles police reported.
Several people were in the apartment in the 8500 block of Balboa Boulevard and had been drinking when the fight occurred about 5 a.m., investigators said.
Detective Michael Brandt said two men began arguing for an unknown reason and the dispute escalated into a knife fight. One of the men, a 31-year-old whose name was not released because his family had not been notified, was fatally stabbed and a 29-year-old woman also suffered stab wounds.
“It appears she tried to intervene in the fight and got stabbed,” Brandt said.
Both victims had been living in the apartment temporarily with a man who police declined to identify because he was a witness to the fight, police said. The man suspected of stabbing the victims fled from the apartment and had not been identified by police Thursday.
