Romeo Beaten in Final of Bowling Event

FAYETTEVILLE, Ga. — Jeri Edwards defeated top-seeded Robin Romeo of Van Nuys, 244-169, on Thursday night to win her first career title and the $6,000 first prize in the $35,000 Ladies Pro Bowlers Tour Greater Atlanta Open.
Edwards opened with six strikes to build a lead that Romeo, the 1989 Woman Bowler of the Year, could not overcome.
Romeo earned $3,000 for second place.
Carol Norman started the final round with a 197-174 victory over Jeanne Maiden. Edwards then defeated Norman, 207-201, and Stacy Rider, 244-237, to advance to the title match.
Rider earned $2,000 for third place, Norman won $1,700 for fourth and Maiden $1,500 for fifth.
