SANTA PAULA : Man Stabbed by Would-Be Thief
A Santa Paula man was stabbed several times in the abdomen Monday after he told a would-be robber that he had no money, authorities said.
Abel Manzano, 40, was found by police shortly after midnight in the 100 block of North 11th Street, said Lesley Dybrack, a Santa Paula police dispatcher.
Manzano apparently was stabbed after a robber became angered that he had no money, Dybrack said.
Manzano was rushed to Santa Paula Memorial Hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery for four stab wounds in the abdomen, said Vicky McCants, a nurse at Santa Paula Memorial Hospital. He was listed in stable condition late Monday, she said.
