Valley Center Driver Dies in Car Crash
A Valley Center woman was killed, and her sister was injured in a car accident in Oceanside, the coroner’s office report.
Mary Helen Esparza, 29, died of multiple injuries Thursday when her car veered off the road and crashed into a pickup truck.
Her sister, Geraldine Lawson, of Valley Center, suffered a fractured right shoulder, cuts and bruises. She is in good condition at Palomar Memorial Hospital, said a hospital spokeswoman.
Esparza was traveling west on Mission Avenue at Sagebrush Way when she drifted into oncoming traffic and hit a pickup truck parked on the shoulder, the coroner’s office said. No one was in the parked truck.
