Deputies Reassigned Pending Probe
Three sheriff’s deputies have been assigned to administrative duties pending the investigation of a shooting involving the three officers in El Cajon on Sunday .
Deputies Genaro Guerrero, David Meyers and Aaron Tuatagaloa were given non-patrol duties at the Santee sheriff’s station until investigators complete their investigations, Sgt. Glen Revell said Tuesday.
On Sunday, the deputies responded to a report of a man threatening people at a construction yard in the 1700 block of North Magnolia Avenue at 8:05 p.m.
The deputies fired on Kenneth Butterfield, 52, of El Cajon after Butterfield reportedly began shooting at them with a .357 Magnum handgun, according to the sheriff’s department.
Butterfield is listed in critical condition at Sharp Memorial Hospital.
