AIRPORT WOES: The opening date remains uncertain, the county and the contractor are feuding (B1) and now comes word of another problem at John Wayne Airport. . . . It turns out that part of the big concrete aircraft “apron” outside the passenger terminal had to be replaced because it wasn’t level, and now it has failed mandatory strength tests. . . . Officials hope to convince the feds, who helped pay for the apron, that the ground beneath is strong enough to make up for the deficient concrete.
