CALIFORNIA IN BRIEF : SAN FRANCISCO : Aguilar’s Retrial Delayed Till Aug. 4
- Share via
The retrial of federal Judge Robert Aguilar on five counts of obstructing justice, lying to the FBI and disclosing wiretap information has been delayed until Aug. 4 because his lawyer, Patrick Hallinan, fractured a heel. In postponing the trial, U.S. District Judge Louis Bechtle also dismissed two corruption charges against Aguilar, who was acquitted March 30 on a single charge of attempting to use his influence with another federal judge in a bank fraud case. Hallinan’s physician told the court in a letter that his patient faces surgery that was delayed because Hallinan also contracted pneumonia.
