The Australian Open will not be dropped as a Grand Slam event, the head of the International Tennis Federation said.
ITF President Philippe Chatrier said in Paris that organizers “don’t have to worry. The Australian Open is firmly established as a Grand Slam tournament,” despite talk that the tournament would risk losing the designation if it did not increase purses.
