Share

A job fair to match young people with prospective employers in Simi Valley will be held at Gold’s Gym Plaza in the Target Shopping Center on May 12. Organizers expect a turnout of more than 1,000 young people.

The fourth annual fair, sponsored by the Simi Valley Youth Employment Service, will provide those in the 13-to-22 age group a chance to meet representatives of about 60 area employers seeking immediate or summer help.

“This year we’re having it in one of the busiest areas of town, so we’re expecting a really big turnout,” said Sandra Thompson, the Youth Employment Services coordinator.

Last year’s fair, held at the Simi Valley Senior Center, drew about 600 people.

Representatives from local government, food services, retail, child care, hotel, banking, and medical firms will be among those in attendance.

“We have so many kids who really want to work, who are really motivated,” Thompson said. “We want to provide an opportunity for as many of them as we can.”
