Police on Sunday were looking for two men who entered a Pizza Hut armed with a gun and rifle and shot two workers with pellets before stealing $450.

The gunmen entered the restaurant at 1300 S. Harbor Blvd. at 11:25 p.m. Saturday, Police Sgt. Kevin Raisch said.

Three employees were inside the building, but there were no customers at the time, Raisch said.

“The gunmen, who were wearing bandannas, forced all three employees to lay down on the floor,” Raisch said, “and then one of the suspects shot two of the employees with pellets from the automatic gun.”

One employee was shot in the neck and another in the arm, causing “large red welts,” Raisch said. Neither employee was hospitalized.

The gunmen then stole $150 from the cash register and $300 from an unlocked safe before fleeing.

The suspects were described as black and were wearing ski sweaters. One was about 6 feet, 1 inch, 180 pounds, with a stocky build and the other was 5 feet, 11 inches.

Police said the robbery was unusual for the area, which has many apartment complexes and small businesses and is not known as a high crime section of the city.
