LOCAL : Man Dies in Lancaster Crash
One man was killed and another was hurt when a pickup truck crashed into a power pole in Lancaster this morning, Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies said. The driver of the pickup fled from the scene of the crash on foot and has not been found.
The identity of the passenger who was killed in the 2:30 a.m. accident at 3rd Street East and Avenue I was not released pending notification of his family. Matthew Timson, 24, of Lancaster, another passenger, was being treated at Antelope Valley Hospital Medical Center and was in good condition.
Deputies said the southbound truck careened into a power pole near the intersection. The force of the impact snapped the pole in half, and power lines fell around the truck. Rescue efforts were delayed until the power lines were cleared.
