LOCAL : Ailing Woman Drowns in Pool
An 81-year-old North Hollywood woman suffering from Alzheimer’s disease drowned when she apparently fell accidentally into a back yard swimming pool, Los Angeles police said this morning.
Phyllis O’Shea was found at 10 p.m. Tuesday in the pool behind her home in the 11500 block of Hamlin Street, Lt. Ron LaRue said. It was not known how long she had been in the pool. She lived alone at the home and was found by a caretaker who lived in another house on the property.
Because O’Shea suffered from Alzheimer’s disease and there was no sign of trauma on her body, police ruled her death an accident, LaRue said.
