SAN FRANCISCO : Widow Gets $127,000 in Forgotten Assets

A 93-year-old widow who forgot about her holdings more than 20 years ago will receive more than $127,000 in stocks and cash under the state’s unclaimed property program, according to state Controller Gray Davis. Thea Sala was found living in a downtown Oakland residential hotel by Sacramento “heir-finder” Wayne Eproson. The elderly woman will receive a $37,891.99 check for the cash portion of her assets, while the rest--mostly in stock--will be be turned over to an agent, Davis said.
