National City police arrested a 21-year-old Navy seaman early Monday on suspicion of murdering his wife during an argument, police said.
Officer Michael Scollan said that about 2:20 a.m. Monday officers responded to a call for an ambulance at an apartment building in the 700 block of East 22nd Street. They discovered Michelle Lefavors, 20, who had been stabbed in the back. She was taken to UC San Diego Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.
Her husband, Alphonso N. Lefavors, was at the apartment when the officers arrived. He is being held at the San Diego County Jail pending arraignment.
