East Walker Continues Its Comeback

The comeback of the East Walker River continues.

Chris Alcocer, 7, of Santa Maria caught a 3 1/2-pound brown trout in the pool at the base of the dam, where carp had taken over since the wild trout stream was devastated by a heavy release of irrigation water from the Bridgeport Reservoir two years ago. Most of the good catches had been much farther downstream since opening day a month ago.
