Man Beaten to Death on Venice Street
Police were searching Saturday for members of a group of males who beat a man to death in a Venice intersection, authorities said.
Witnesses told police the unidentified man was kicked and punched to death during a possible robbery attempt at 5th and Brooks avenues about 11:30 p.m. Friday, said Detective Chuck Worthen of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Pacific Division.
“The suspects ran from the scene on foot,” Worthen said.
“The reason for the attack is unknown, however, robbery may have been the motive,” Worthen said. “It does not appear to be gang related.”
The man, who was not carrying identification, was pronounced dead at the scene, Worthen said.
