A woman visiting her husband at the state prison on Otay Mesa was reportedly assaulted by the inmate over the weekend and seriously injured, officials said Monday.
The victim was identified as Jacqueline Anderson, 24, who was allegedly attacked while visiting her husband, Milford Anderson, also 24, at the prison.
John Sandlin, a prison spokesman, said the incident occurred Sunday when she was meeting with her husband in the prison visiting room, and her husband suddenly began striking her with his fists.
“After being struck, she fell and hit her head during the fall,” Sandlin said. “There was a fair amount of blood.”
He said she was later treated and released at a local hospital. The inmate was placed in a segregated cell, Sandlin added, and the case will be referred to prosecutors.
