Nordhoff’s Alstot Second in Golden West Decathlon
Morgan Alstot, a senior from Nordhoff High, is in second place after the first day of the decathlon competition at the Golden West Invitational track and field meet in Sacramento.
Alstot, who has 3,465 points after five events, trails Cannon Vanderhoff of Eugene, Ore., by 22 points. Jason Lattimore of Morristown, N.J., is third with 3,427 points.
Alstot set two personal bests Thursday with an 11.14-second performance in the 100 meters and a leap of 6 feet 3 3/4 inches in the high jump.
He also ran 51.75 in the 400 meters, long-jumped 20-9 and put the 16-pound shot 37-9.
The discus, javelin, high hurdles, 1,500 meters and pole vault will be conducted today.
