Weaver on the Warpath: In the meantime, Sigourney Weaver says she’s sick of Hollywood’s sexist salary structure. In the July issue of Glamour magazine, she said, “I certainly feel I’m well paid--but compared to the guys I work with? Forget it . . . . And yet I think that I bring as many people into the theater as they do.” Weaver said that during discussions for her role in “Alien III,” a male studio executive was hesitant about her demands to be treated and paid like a male star of a successful movie series. Weaver is ready to organize: “I have this intense desire to get all the actresses together on this. It would be interesting to see what would happen if we all boycotted.”
