An argument over a minor traffic accident in the parking lot of a Van Nuys restaurant escalated into a shooting Monday that left one man injured. Police were searching for the suspected gunman, authorities said.

Kenny Kingsberry, 28, of Los Angeles was shot twice in the stomach and was taken to an undisclosed hospital, where he was in serious but stable condition, Sgt. Dallas Gibson said. An unidentified man was being sought in the 2 a.m. shooting that occurred in the parking lot of the 94th Aero Squadron restaurant, on the 16300 block of Raymer Avenue, after closing time.

“It was a dispute over a traffic accident, and while they were arguing, shots were fired,” Gibson said.

The gunman immediately fled. Although several patrons were leaving the restaurant at the time, no one could provide police with a description of the suspect or his car.
