From Russia With Love: Bolshoi Ballet principal dancer Irek Mukhamedov, the only dancer from the Soviet company featured in recent advertisements for its upcoming U.S. tour, has resigned from that company to join London’s Royal Ballet. The Royal Ballet said Tuesday that Mukhamedov will take a position as principal dancer and full-time member of the company. Sources at the Bolshoi American tour office could not confirm whether he would be able to make the Bolshoi’s U.S. tour. As a guest artist with the Royal Ballet for the 1990-91 season, Mukhamedov--considered one of the world’s leading dancers--had already been scheduled to dance the leading roles in “La Bayadere,” “Raymonda Act III” and “The Nutcracker.”
