The California Highway Patrol is trying to identify a man who was struck by several vehicles and killed Wednesday morning while trying to cross the southbound San Diego Freeway.

The man was the second in two days to die in attempting to cross the freeway.

CHP Officer Angel Johnson said investigators discovered the body after receiving a call from a motorist who said he might have struck the victim.

The accident happened about 2:15 a.m. south of Fairview Road.

Johnson said the victim had pulled his 1980 Dodge pickup to the right shoulder for an unknown reason and was struck when he apparently ran across the lanes.
