* An evening with Vikki Carr will be presented on Sunday, June 17, on KVEA-TV (Channel 52). Joining her on the special are Jose Jose, Ana Gabriel, Franco and Viva Voz. The special (7 to 9 p.m.) also features clips of Carr’s extensive career, including on-stage in Las Vegas as well as television appearances guest-hosting the “Tonight Show” and a duet with Carol Burnett.

Look for Ana Azcuy, a Miami news anchor woman, to take over hosting duties from Teresa Rodriguez on Univision’s weekly news magazine “Portada” beginning in late July. Rodriguez, who also has served as the program’s executive producer, has decided to venture into the English-language media, signing for anchor and reporting duties with Miami’s NBC affiliate WTVJ, which by coincidence is the station Azcuy departs to join Univision.

There is talk that Maria Olga Fernandez, effervescent hostess of Telemundo’s daily audience-game show “Feria de la Alegria,” might additionally also host a talk/interview program on the same network. The Chilean-born Fernandez made a whirlwind visit to Los Angeles to emcee the regional “Miss Hispanidad” pageant held at Universal Studios. National finals of the contest are scheduled for October in Miami, with Fernandez again handling hosting duties.

A fun-filled reception was held at the Sunset Strip restaurant Carlos & Charlie’s welcoming celebrated songstress Beatriz Adriana as official “godmother” of local radio station KALI, which recently changed its format full-time to traditional Mexican music. In accepting the honor, Adriana delighted guests with an impromptu performance.

Get ready for some prime entertainment visiting our local stages in the months to come . . . At the Greek Theater--the Gipsy Kings (June 23-24), Santana (July 14-15), Los Lobos (Aug. 25), Julio Iglesias (Aug. 30-Sept. 2), and in a double-bill, Vikki Carr and Jose Jose (Oct. 12-13). And at the Universal Amphitheater--Chayanne’s L.A debut (July 14), Emmanuel (Aug. 25-26), Rocio Durcal (Oct. 6-7) and Juan Gabriel (Nov. 9-11). Miami Sound Machine had to postpone its original August booking due to Gloria Estefan’s recent traffic accident and there is no word yet as to the new dates.
