West Hollywood : Gambling Club Initiative

Share

Supporters of a referendum to create a legalized gambling club in West Hollywood say they have collected more than enough signatures to require the City Council to put a gambling initiative on the November ballot.

Bruce Decker, a spokesman for the West Hollywood Club Initiative Committee, said his group has collected 4,620 signatures. The group needs 3,000 valid signatures from the city’s 20,000 registered voters for the initiative to be put on the ballot. The city will verify the signatures before the council takes action.

Proponents say the legalized card club could generate from $5 million to $10 million annually for the city, roughly 10% of club’s estimated gross revenues.
