A police sergeant and two city attorney’s office officials on an anti-gang investigation were injured Thursday when their car was broadsided by another motorist in South-Central Los Angeles, authorities said.

The sergeant, whose name was not immediately available, was believed to have been the most seriously injured in the 1 p.m. accident. Mike Qualls, a spokesman for the city attorney’s office, said Deputy City Atty. Robert Ferber, the assistant supervisor of the anti-gang unit, suffered cuts on his face and other minor injuries, while law clerk Jeff Oh had bruises on his shoulder and arms. All three were taken to County-USC Medical Center, authorities said.

The three and a detective were in an unmarked police car, making a left turn onto northbound Compton Avenue from 62nd Street when a car traveling south on Compton hit them, authorities said. The other motorist, a woman, was not seriously injured, police said.
